SOMERS POINT – For nearly 30 years, the Somers Point Foundation for Education has raised money to support programs, students and teachers in its public school district through fundraising events, sponsorships, and giving campaigns. For the past fifteen years, Shore Medical Center has been a beacon to the Foundation, stepping up as its Title Sponsor; they have generously renewed that funding for 2018. In total, Shore Medical Center will be supporting the Foundation with $16,500 this year. The monies will be allocated towards a sponsorship for the upcoming Dinner Dance Gala on February 24th and for the Trail of Two Cities 5k scheduled for November 3rd. A large portion of the funding, $10,000 to be exact, is given to the Foundation for Education’s Endowment Fund. This helps insure the lifespan of the Foundation and solidifies monies to support its mission for decades to come. “We are incredibly grateful to the Shore Medical Center Board and Administrative Staff for their dedication to keeping our students healthy and happy,” said Sydney Somers, Community Education & Recreation Director. “This level of commitment demonstrates how much the hospital values Somers Point and its future generations.”
The Foundation for Education, a non-profit organization, promotes new educational programs, enhances existing programs and serves as an advocate of Somers Point Schools. Funds are raised through donations, corporate sponsorships and developing successful fundraising events such as the annual Trail of Two Cities 5k, Spring Dinner Dance Gala and new and innovative community events.
