The Somers Point Sharks are a championship team with several age divisions including Pee-Wee, Taxi, Junior Varsity and Varsity.  Home games are played at the Lawrence “Bud” Kern Memorial Field. The 2016 season has ended; check back for updates in the spring of 2017.

SOMERS POINT LITTLE LEAGUE

The Little League organization offers programs for both boys and girls, ages 7-12 years old.  Kids can take part in tee-ball, softball, and baseball where they learn skills in the sport along with teambuilding and sportsmanship.  SP Little League partners with the City of Northfield to create more teams and field space. Part of the Atlantic Shore League, Babe Ruth is open to kids ages 13-15 and is made up of competing teams from surrounding communities.  The league aims to be a tool in training athletes for a high school baseball career. 2016 Spring Signups TBA.

The Somers Point Lightning ‘Bolts’ Hockey Association has a variety of programs for ages four to 18!  Programs include Intructional Chipmunk (for the lil’ players), Fall Roller Hockey, Winter Street Hockey and a Street Hockey ‘All Star’ Travel Team.  Home games and practices are held in the hockey courts at Kern Field.  Online registration and info at www.sphockey.com.

 

JERSEY SHORE POWDER PUFF LEAGUEjsppl logo

Somers Point is home to the Jersey Shore Powder Puff League (JSPPL), an all female flag football league. This league is made up of moms, sisters, wives, and daughters – who pull their hair back and put on their cleats for practice during the week and games on weekends. These ladies are committed to playing hard and getting down and dirty for a good cause!  The league is also a non-profit foundation dedicating to raising money and awareness for pulmonary fibrosis. The season begins in April each year, please check back for upcoming registration info!

 

 

Tennis InstructionTENNIS COURTS

Open daily from 8am – dusk, free of charge. The tennis courts are located on the corner of Wayne Drive and DeFeo Lane.  They are free and open to the public year-round.  Groups of ten or more may reserve a permit for usage from the CER Office.  There are also seasonal enrichment tennis courses offered for children and adults.
